Building a multi-touch all-in-one PC

First of all I'd like to point out I have to give the monitor and motherboard back to their respective owners, so defacement and drilling were not really an option. I know, that hasn't stopped us before here at bit-tech, as our modus operandi is to void warranties and take stuff apart. Or, even (entirely accidentally, I still insist) drill holes in GTX 480s...

The idea for the project first came to me after seeing Albatron's touchscreens at Computex. They were fantastic, and as I was told the monitors had VESA mounts the thought of bolting a PC to the back with just one or two cables was extremely appealing. I had already lined up the Asus AT3IONT-I Deluxe to go with In-Win's mini-ITX case that included such a mount for my modding needs. Admittedly though, this is not a serious project log: I'm not pretending to mod on a level that graces the rest of our front page and forums.


However, just like all best laid plans, at the time I hadn't checked the monitor in enough detail. I didn't realise its stand was using the actual VESA holes. Damn it!


So, I'm back to square.. two. Or three, maybe. With a monitor on one hand and mini-ITX board on the other and no drill or pliers card available to play. The only thing left in my deck then is to go ghetto.

Donning the baggy pants and cranking up the hip-hop, Yo, I decided to "borrow" the box the motherboard came in as a base to build around.
